About Us
Welcome to the Chester PTO — the heartbeat of parent, teacher, and community partnership across Dickerson Elementary, Bragg Elementary, and Black River Middle School. As a vital nonprofit within the Chester School District, our mission is to enrich student experiences, support educators, and foster school spirit through thoughtful programming and unwavering dedication.
The Chester PTO is made up of committed parents and educators who volunteer their time and talents to bring meaningful enrichment and support to our schools.
By raising and directing funds throughout the year, the PTO sustains a wealth of initiatives that strengthen both academic and social enrichment:
At Dickerson Elementary: cultural arts assemblies, art and technology clubs, Field Days, special grants, and tech upgrades.
At Bragg Elementary: homework and performing arts programs, Around the World events, band and chorus stipends, clubs, field days, environmental initiatives, and peer mediation programs.
At Black River Middle School: drama, language, and STEM clubs; cultural arts assemblies; jazz, percussion, and honors band stipends; solar sprints; graduation festivities; and community events like the senior citizen dance.
Across All Schools: teacher appreciation events, welcome breakfasts, beautification projects, the Caring Committee, and more chester-nj.org.
Why We Matter
Every dollar raised empowers our schools to offer enriching experiences beyond the core curriculum—helping students explore their passions, build community, and create lasting memories. From field days to performance arts, from cultural programming to clubs and celebrations, our collective efforts elevate the educational journey for every child.
